I found the myspace page of a band called Cold Cave in a Stereogum’s Band To Watch post. Cold Cave is, to state the obvious, a bit reminiscent of Mates of State with a touch Magnetic Fields irony. But unlike those two bands, they add an aggressively electronic sound to their wistful, melodic mournings.
One song from Cold Cave’s myspace collection , Our Tears Help the Flowers, really reminded me of Joy Division. It’s funny, because not only does the lead singer sound a bit like Curtis, even the line is deritive. He sings, “I’m not in love.” It’s almost as though the message is: What I learned from Joy Division. Don’t hurt, just deny.
And if I’ve misheard the lyric, then just think what that says about me! Love WILL tear us apart, God Damnit.

I always wanted to start a band called “Pole Chamber.” Because, you know, I’m that immature.
